Connect With Your Audience

The internet is a crazy place which holds everything you wish. The main problem webmasters and online business owners have is finding ways to connect with their audience. We can create a page and rank well in google, but in the end it is our words, pictures, and videos that the audience will see. Now for most this is fine they do not create for connections or create with the thought of communicating further with their audience, but if you are an online business owner wanting to make profit then your audiences wants and needs become priority. It really doesn’t matter how much traffic you have if the traffic is not having its needs met then you should not expect any income. Now as impersonal as the internet it there have been revolutions in the social media which has allowed us as creators to meet and learn about our audience.
The primary media which will allow you to connect with your audience is Facebook and there are two ways which I have seen online business owners connect with their audience. The first is setting up a fanpage for your business and work on the overall brand of the business. I have found this method for the larger businesses out there, but if you are a sole operator the better option would be using your personal facebook account to connect with your audience. I understand how meshing your business and personal life can be somewhat scary, but allowing your audience to see the man behind the business can instantly build that connection and trust. With the trust will come income. When you advise people to join a certain program or purchase a product through your site they will be much more likely to do so.
Social medias are wonderful to connect with your audience and some more you may want to consider are linkedin, twitter, and orkut, but remember not to forsake connection on your own site. For blogs this will usually happen within the comments section. When you find a good quality comment which is specifically asking for a response or asking you personally a question it is important to take the time to answer it. To the newer webmaster this will be very simple and take little time, but as your audience grows and grows the time it takes to answer everyone will cast a heavy burden. This is when you need to find the time and pick wisely who you will be answering. At the height of my first site I was receiving around 100 emails daily asking question after question. I would sort through them answering the most personal questions and trashing the impersonal.
The final way you can truly connect with your audience is by using personal languages throughout your sites content. This will be difficult for college graduates because professional writing and online writing contradict each other. Using I and you are very helpful when trying to bring your audience closer and build a connection with them. Also style should be more important than grammar and spelling. You should of course be using a word processor with spellcheck and grammar check. If you don’t have one I recommend Google Docs.
